Big Green What?
2013
Inspired by BBQ food coming off the Big Green Egg, we began thinking about potentially opening a restaurant. After some debating, researching, and getting advice from friends & family, we decided to open a food truck first. A food truck allowed us to get up & running quicker, without being tied down to a brick & mortar location.
And then the hardest part began… what to name it?! Ideas started floating around our minds about bbq, the Big Green Egg, this need to be “Green” in an eco-friendly way, and eventually Big Green Q was born.

Farm to Table
2013
BGQ takes farm to table to heart. You can catch employees on the weekend mornings picking up veggies from the farmer’s market and we’re always on the lookout for new seasonal foods to try to incorporate.
In addition to local veggies, the rest of our ingredients are local wherever possible. One of their favorite vendors, is a local tofu maker in Iowa City (Old Capital Foods) where they buy fresh tofu.

The “Green”
in Big Green Q
2013
Big Green Q was the first food truck in Omaha to run entirely on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). This means that instead of the truck running on normal gasoline or diesel, the truck runs & cooks on this more eco-friendly gas.
Unlike many one time use items, 100% of Big Green Q’s to-go containers, bags, and utensils are compostable or recyclable.
